On October 8, 2011, the Special Forces Association [Chapter 78] sponsored their First Annual Shooter’s Cup in Norco, California. The purpose of the [Green Beret Foundation] is to provide financial resources for various health and welfare programs that assist wounded, ill or injured Special Forces warriors. They also provide family assitance and care for those families affected by their love one’s death, illness or injury due to their service. They function much like our own Los Angeles Police Protective League. The L.A. Lawmen sent two teams in support of our nation’s Special Forces.
Each team consisted of five Lawmen who shot five events. The events included a quarter-mile run, shooting on the move, precision rifle shots, prisoner rescue, two-man carry of teammate, handgun disassembly, reassembly, and then firing, and target selection.
It was a very physically demanding match. When the smoke cleared, L.A. Lawmen Blue captured 1st place, L.A. Lawmen Red took 6th place, Metro B-platoon 7th, D-platoon 12th and C-platoon 13th place. Great shootin’ for a great cause. Thanks to all who competed.
The 1st place trophy now resides at the Elysian Park Academy until next year, when it is up for grabs again. Keep shooting and training and remember … you’re not any better until you help those around you become better.
